I always see Saudi Arabia listed pretty poorly on safety travel sites. I know it is a beautiful place with a culture that is not quite like our own. People travel here from around the world all the time yet it is considered unsafe. What areas then should be avoided if someone were to go?
You will want to avoid traveling within 50 miles of the Saudi-Yemen border. In most cases, you will not have any reason to go to this area. Cities to avoid include Khamis Mushayt, Jizan, Najran, and Abha. Qatif in the Eastern Province is also said to be dangerous, this includes the suburb areas like Awamiyah.

You just make things so much easier for me! I am looking on a digital map of the areas to get a better understanding of it. The reason I got interested and had to ask about it was because of a travel blog I follow mentioning it. They didn't talk about any no-go zones or anything.
