I recently was in Portugal for the first time and something happened that I had never experienced eslawhere. There were many shops that closed at 1PM or were closed from 2PM until 3PM. I didn't understand why but I also did not want to be rude and ask in case it was a religious thing for locals. Does anyone know why this happens?
This is more common in tourist-heavy locations. The reason they do this is so everyone working can go on break or "lunch" at the same time. This is usually for an hour and happens between 1PM and 3PM every day.
